Chiropatients of the Month

Jennifer has been a motivated patient since she came to the office in August complaining of chronic back pain. She always schedules appointments, comes to our Wednesday stretch classes, and she refers her family!

Cathryn & William have been committed patients since coming to the office in September. They’re always on time for their appointments, they do their exercises and therapies, and always bring happiness into the office. We’re excited to watch them grow!

November Chiropatients of the Month

Kelly and Luke Long

Kelly has been coming to our office for 10+ years and is such a faithful patient. She has shared her love of chiropractic with her whole family and we are able to help them stay healthy! We have loved getting to know her on a personal basis and she has become like family!

Luke has been a patient since he was a baby and his first adjustment was a few days after he was born! Kelly knows the importance of bringing her son in for maintenance visits especially when it’s flu/cold season to boost his immune system. He always brings a fun energy to the office and we love seeing him each week!

Gratitude Tree

For the whole month of November, our office will have a Gratitude Tree for you to practice what you are thankful for. When you stop in for your adjustment, make sure to place a leaf on the tree and reflect on the many blessings we have! Read what others have to say as well!

This is a great thing to practice even on a daily basis – have you read our article about A Dose of Gratitude and how to incorporate that into your daily life?

Happy 10 Year Anniversary, Maria

A Dose of Gratitude

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John F. Kennedy

What if there was a solution so simple that involved nothing more than feeling thankful for the good things in your life? In fact, there is. That solution is called gratitude. Studies have shown that people who regularly practice feeling thankful have a leg up when it comes to their health.

Who wouldn’t want to try it? To get started giving thanks, consider integrating some of the steps below into your daily life:

Focus Attention Outward:
Your attitude plays a large role in determining whether you can feel grateful in spite of life’s challenges. Research suggests that those who are more aware of the positive in their lives tend to focus their attention outside of themselves.

Be Mindful of What You Have:
You may assume that those with more material possessions have more to be grateful for. It’s not how much you have, but how you feel about what you have that makes the difference.
Keep a Gratitude Journal:
Recording what you feel grateful for in a journal is a great way to give thanks on a regular basis. Try listing five things on a daily basis that you’re thankful for and see how much more optimistic you find yourself!

Reframe Situations as Positive:
The next time you find yourself complaining about life’s hassles, see if you can mentally “flip the switch” to frame things differently. For example, rather than getting down about missing an opportunity, try to see the positive side about the situation.

Why Should Children Have Chiropractic Care?

If you are a parent, you want to maximize the health of your child. To achieve that goal, as much as possible, you try to feed your child a healthy diet of nourishing foods, maintain a bedtime routine to allow adequate sleep, and ensure that your child gets plenty of exercise. These are all ways to help a child grow up healthy and strong. In addition to these measures, regular chiropractic adjustments are a natural compliment to your parenting routines. In fact, most parents state that their children experience a better level of health while receiving routine chiropractic care.[1]

Your child will benefit from regular chiropractic care at any age starting from infancy. Beginning with birth, the milestones of a baby’s early life, including gaining mobility, learning to sit, and taking first steps (and falls), can all cause stress on a child’s spine and nervous system, which can manifest in many ways, including colic and sleep disruptions. Chiropractic adjustment can alleviate the stress on the spine and improve on these issues. In addition, a Doctor of Chiropractic can also help care for more acute childhood issues, such as ear infections, allergies, and asthma. While your chiropractor does not diagnose or treat specific conditions, she can help locate and correct misalignments of the spine that affect the body’s ability to function optimally, helping to improve many of these conditions naturally.

As your child ages, she or he is likely to become more active, whether hanging from the monkey bars with friends, biking through the neighborhood, or running around the soccer field. While these activities are fun and healthy, the routine bumps and jostles that your child receives while playing may cause misalignments in the spine. Often, a child may show no signs of pain or discomfort, but the stress on the spine may affect her body’s ability to function now or in the future. By visiting a chiropractor regularly, your child can receive adjustments that will relieve tension in the spine and allow her body to continue to grow and develop properly.

You or your child may be nervous about her first visit to the chiropractor, but there is nothing to worry about. In fact, most parents state that their children enjoy and look forward to their adjustments.[2] During your child’s first visit, your chiropractor will take a case history and then perform a chiropractic exam to determine where stress may be affecting the spine. If the doctor determines that an adjustment is needed, the procedures will be tailored to your child’s size, weight, and spinal condition. Whether you are the parent to a newborn or teenagers, regular chiropractic care can help maximize your child’s potential.

Chiropractors locate and correct subluxations, a condition that damages, nerves, muscles, fascia, meninges and other tissues.  Subluxations cause joints to “freeze” or lose normal movement, causing damage to the involved area.
