Essential Oils Spotlight: Thieves

Essential Oils Spotlight: Thieves

Thieves essential oil is a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary. This essential oil blend is a spicy, rich aroma that can fill any space with the smell of fall baking.

The history of Thieves essential oil was derived from the story of four thieves who robbed people during the bubonic plague in 14th century Europe. During this time, the four thieves went from house to house robbing those who had succumbed to the illness. Once captured, the judge asked the four thieves how they were able to rob the dead and dying and not be afflicted with this terrible disease. The thieves claimed that they wore masks to look like the doctors at the time (which were beak shaped). These masks had the combination of herbs, spices, and essential oils found in the thieves blend today. This blend kept the four thieves from being afflicted with the bubonic plague.

Thieves has a number of benefits, a few of which include:

  • Eliminates airborne bacteria
  • Supports your immune system
  • Kills toxic molds, 99.96% of bacteria, and viruses
  • Works with the body’s natural defenses
  • Supports oral health
  • Can be used to clean and eliminate odors

Essential Oils – What Are They?

What are these little bottles you may ask? They are powerful essential oils that will change your life!

Essential oils are the life blood of the plant and have been used for thousands of years for cosmetic purposes, as well as for spiritually and emotionally uplifting properties. Young Living is the company we use and recommend here in the office. They primarily use steam distillation and cold pressing to carefully extract the oils from the plants. The purest essential oils are far more powerful than the botanicals from which they were extracted. Any time you hold a bottle of powerful essential oils, you are holding nature’s pure essence.

There are 3 different ways to use essential oils:

  1. Topically
  2. Taken Internally
  3. Inhalation

Have you been interested in trying essential oils and what to know how you can use them in your daily life? Come into the office and talk with Dr. Brent or Dr. Monique about them!
